EA to Release “Military Edition” of Medal of Honor: Warfighter, Announces Program to Benefit Charities

Posted June 14th 2012

In a statement yesterday, EA announced that Danger Close Games will release a special edition of Medal of Honor: Warfighter exclusively for Active, Reserve and Former U.S. Military Servicemembers. Dubbed Medal of Honor: Warfighter Military Edition, this version will include everything in the Limited Edition of the game, plus special unlocks and a unique in game camouflage pattern.

The Military Edition is due to a partnership with GovX Inc, an online shopping outlet serving verified members of the military, law enforcement, and government service sector. Details on how to join, as well as a little information for those seeking to purchase the Military Edition, are available on the site.

The unique pattern which will be used in the Military Edition is the Project HONOR camouflage, featured below. EA, Danger Close and various manufacturers that make the weapons and gear used by Special Operations Forces are teaming up to create and sell exclusive Medal of Honor themed merchandise under the Project HONOR label, donating 100% of all profits to the Navy SEAL Foundation, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, and other charities.

Some folks, I am sure, will be upset that they are not able to get access to the exclusive patterns and unlocks. Truth is, you are wrong, and as a veteran myself, to hell with ya. Many other game publishers partner with various media and product outlets, and if you can get special codes for cracking open a soft drink or opening a bag of chips, then maybe vets deserve one for putting their lives on the line.

EA’s full press release, detailing the Medal of Honor Military Edition for Project HONOR, is detailed below. Thank you EA, for giving back to our Armed Forces and families.

Rick first got his start in gaming with the Atari 2600 console, and it was all downhill from there. Now he spends his free time writing about games and technology for Sergeant Merrell, and is also on the Off Duty Gamers staff. His prior service as a United States Marine, and in law enforcement, give him a peculiar sense of humor, so be advised.
